Logarithmic and exponential functions
What this topic asks you to be able to do
- understand how logarithms and indices relate to each other, and apply the laws of logarithms (leaving out change of base)
- understand how e^x and lnx are defined and what properties they possess, including the link between them as inverse functions, together with their graphs
- apply logarithms when solving equations and inequalities where the unknown is in indices
- apply logarithms to put a given relationship into linear form, and from its gradient and/or intercept work out the unknown constants
