Terms of Service

Kindred is run by Kindred Learning, a business registered in Mauritius (Business Registration Number I26011311). In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Kindred Learning, and "you" means the person using Kindred. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you are a parent or guardian approving a child's account, you agree for them too.

Kindred is a study space for students, tutors and guardians: an AI tutor, practice with feedback, a syllabus map and revision plan, messages between people who are connected, and a Vault for files. It is new and still being built, so features may change and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We'll tell you before we take away something you have paid for.

Kindred is independent. It isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, any examination board or school.

• You sign in with Google. Keep that account secure, and tell us if you think someone else used yours.
• One account is for one person. Don't share it.
• A student under 16 can sign up, but the AI tutor, practice and messages stay closed until a parent or guardian connects and approves the link.
• Tutors and guardians must be adults (18 or over).
• You must be 16 or over to buy a plan. A younger student's guardian buys it for them.

Kindred has a free plan with daily limits. A student's first question to the AI tutor starts a free 14-day trial of Student Plus, once ever, with no payment details asked for. At the end you go back to Free on your own.

Paid plans are listed on the pricing page, in Mauritian rupees. The price shown is what you pay. You pay by hand with MCB Juice, to our MCB account, with the reference Kindred gives you. We match your payment and switch your plan on, usually within one working day. If no payment arrives, it ends. Nothing renews by itself: to keep a plan, you pay for the next period.

You can cancel a plan in Settings. A plan that has started stays on until the last day you paid for, then ends. A student under 16 asks their guardian to cancel.

We refund, by MCB Juice:

• the full price of a plan you cancel before it starts;
• a payment that arrives twice, or after you cancelled;
• a payment we can't match to a plan, once you show us it was yours.

We don't refund the unused part of a period that has already started. This doesn't take away any right you have under the consumer protection law of Mauritius.

Please don't:

• upload anything illegal, hurtful, or that you don't have the right to share (including past papers or mark schemes you may not use with your students);
• bully, threaten or harass anyone, or contact a student for anything but their learning;
• try to reach accounts or data that aren't yours, or get around the daily limits;
• copy Kindred's content in bulk, or use it to build a competing service.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that puts a student at risk. Where we can, we'll tell you why first.

Tutors on Kindred are independent. They don't work for us, and we don't check their qualifications or background. Students and guardians choose who to connect with. A tutor is responsible for their own teaching, prices and material.

What you write and upload stays yours. You let us store it, show it to the people you share it with, and send it to our providers (such as Anthropic for the AI tutor) only as far as Kindred needs to work. Kindred itself, its design, and the explanations and questions it writes are ours; you may use them for your own learning and teaching.

The AI tutor's answers are written by an AI model. They can be incomplete or wrong. Use them as a study aid, and check anything important with your tutor, teacher or textbook. Kindred doesn't promise any exam result.

Kindred checks students' messages to the AI tutor for signs of distress, and may tell a guardian and a tutor that a student needs support. The Privacy Policy explains how. Kindred is not an emergency or counselling service. If someone is in danger, call 999 or the SAMU on 114.

You can delete your account in Settings at any time. Your plans end with it, and the unused part is not refunded, so to get back what you paid for a plan that hasn't started, cancel it first.

We take reasonable care to keep Kindred working and your data safe. Kindred is provided as it is, without promises beyond these terms. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, and our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months. Nothing here limits a responsibility the law doesn't let us limit.

These terms are governed by the laws of Mauritius, and the courts of Mauritius decide any dispute. Please talk to us first: most problems are quicker to fix that way.

When we change these terms in a way that matters, we change the version date at the top and tell you in the app or by email. A change to what a paid plan includes applies from your next period. Questions about these terms: inquiries@kindredtutor.com.
