- understand what |x| means, sketch y = |ax + b|, and apply relations such as |a| = |b| ⇔ a² = b² and |x – a| < b ⇔ a – b < x < a + b to solve equations and inequalities
- divide a polynomial whose degree is not above 4 by a linear or a quadratic polynomial, then state the quotient and the remainder (the remainder can be zero)
