Functions
What this topic asks you to be able to do
- know what is meant by a function, its domain and its range, a one-one function, an inverse function and the composition of functions
- identify, for simple examples, the range of any function you are given, and form the composition of two functions given to you
- determine whether the function you are given is one-one or not, and, in simple cases, obtain the inverse of a one-one function
- show graphically how a one-one function relates to its inverse
- understand and apply the transformations that map the graph of y = f(x) to y = f(x) + a, y = f(x + a), y = af(x) and y = f(ax), along with simple combinations of them
