What this topic asks you to be able to do
- describe the acid/base properties of amino acids, along with how zwitterions come about, and make sure to cover the isoelectric point
- describe the way amide (peptide) bonds are generated between amino acids, giving di- and tripeptides
- interpret and predict the outcome of electrophoresis carried out at different pHs on a mixture containing amino acids and dipeptides (you will not be tested on setting up the apparatus)
