Logarithmic and exponential functions
What this topic asks you to be able to do
- know how logarithms and indices are linked, and apply the laws of logarithms, leaving aside change of base
- understand what ex and lnx are defined to be and how they behave, including how they relate as inverse functions and what their graphs look like
- apply logarithms when solving equations and inequalities whose unknown sits in the indices
- apply logarithms to rewrite a given relationship in linear form, and so find unknown constants by looking at the gradient and/or the intercept
