What this topic asks you to be able to do
- pin down an approximate position for a root of an equation, drawing on graphs and/or hunting for a change in sign
- understand what is meant by a sequence of approximations that converges to a root of the equation being solved, and use the notation for such a sequence
- understand how a supplied straightforward iterative rule of the form xn + 1 = F(xn) ties in with the equation under study, and apply either a supplied iteration or one built from a supplied rearrangement of an equation, in order to find a root correct to a specified level of precision
