- understand that transverse waves are linked with the phenomenon of polarisation
- recall Malus’s law (I = I0 cos²θ) and use it to calculate the intensity of plane-polarised electromagnetic waves after they pass through one polarising filter or several in a row (calculating how a polarising filter changes the intensity of unpolarised waves is not required)
