Continuous random variables
What this topic asks you to be able to do
- apply a probability density function that may be given piecewise
- use the result E_g^Xhi = yfg ^^ xx hhdx, true in general, where X is a continuous random variable with probability density function f(x) and g(X) is any function of X
- understand, and make use of, how the probability density function (PDF) is related to the cumulative distribution function (CDF), and work out probabilities or percentiles from either one
- apply cumulative distribution functions (CDFs) to variables that are related to each other, in simple cases
