The Sun as a star
What this topic asks you to be able to do
- Know that the Sun is a medium-sized star composed largely of hydrogen and helium, giving off the greater part of its energy as radiation in the ultraviolet, visible and infrared parts of the electromagnetic spectrum
- Understand that nuclear reactions supply stars with their power, releasing energy, and that in stars which are stable the reactions join hydrogen nuclei together to form helium
