Know and use the derivatives of the standard functions
What this topic asks you to be able to do
- Know the derivatives of these standard functions and use them: xⁿ (where n is any rational number), sin x, cos x, tan x, eˣ and ln x. It covers constant multiples, sums and composite functions, the last of these by the chain rule. For example, differentiate 3x² + 1/x³. Angles in trigonometric functions are always measured in radians.
